Bodybuilding Basics

When you decide to exercise to build up muscles, you must familiarize yourself with the bodybuilding basics. Lean muscle is the main goal of all bodybuilders, but there are do's and don't's associated with this. If you are going to spend the time it takes to build a great body, then you might as well use your time wisely. For example, one of the most common mistakes people make when beginning a bodybuilding routine is to focus on only one or two muscles. Another common mistake is to concentrate on the upper body while neglecting the legs. Since the legs are needed to support a heavier upper body, the lower torso needs to be strong.

There are basic movements you should learn as the foundation of your training. The body has to work harder to complete these movements so they should be done properly so you won't damage any of your muscle groups. The exercises will work more and more muscle fibres and as a result release more hormones that will cause the muscles to grow.

There are two ways you can approach the bodybuilding workout. You can have a short, intense workout, which is split into a workout for the upper body and a workout for the lower body. You can also split the workout into sets of repetitions in which you work specific joints and muscles. Either way, you should work for a day and then rest the next day. You should never exercise more than two days in a row without taking a rest day. Workouts should last about 45 minutes and you should minimize the amount of rest time you have between the sets of exercises. Recognize when your body is telling you it is reaching the breaking point and set time limits.
